I picked a range of edges to take pictures of seeing as there were so many options. Many of them are different in their own way as some of them are curved, some straight and many more.
Paper edges
This lesson we took images of paper and shadows using a flashlight and it was in black and white.

Assessment
I chose these photo's because they are appealing to the eye. They vary from black and white to colours such as blue and brown and grey. Some are taken outdoor and others inside buildings. Half of the pictures are taken of objects whereas the other's are just taken outside of random things.
WWW: The sculpture has a range of colours and tones and they all compliment each other well. It has a range of things such as block colours and jars and letter's and more. All of the objects are complimenting each other well and they can all be seen from different angles. EBI: The sculpture isn't as sturdy as it could have been, as i only used tape. If i wanted it to be more sturdy i could've used things like hot glue. I could use more 3D objects to make it have more depth and have it be more original.
Edges in the classroom
From now on i am going to be focusing on collections of things for my edges photographs.
One reason this is my favourite image is because it has a range of different textures and shapes.
You can normally find groups of things in many places and the collections can represent what the location is
It has many colours
They are all layed out differently some are upside down some are normal and ect
I will be researching the photographer John Cyr as he takes pictures of collections of things, so i will be taking pictures of collections such as books and other things.
Triptych What is a triptych in photography?
A photographic triptych is a common style used in modern commercial artwork. The photographs are usually arranged with a plain border between them. The work may consist of separate images that are variants on a theme, or may be one larger image split into three.
How to create a triptych
You have to find images that look the same and organise them in any way you please, then u have to separate them with a line/border.
Diptych
A diptych is a collage (2 pictures only) of photo's that relate and have some similarities.
Our task today in class was to take photographs for diptychs that are based of our last favourite picture.
This is my favourite diptych as it has many similar elements, for example:
They have similar colours such as nude, cream, white and black
They have a very similar texture as they are both very layered with different pieces of fabric yet they are both still original.
They both have a bit of depth due to the fact that the layers between some of the fabrics have a bit of space between each other
They both have very dark tones in the bottom right corner of the photographs
They both have a range of shapes from the layers they aren't all the same shape which keeps it's originality
And they both have a range of geometric shapes, not many natural shapes
Collage photographer
I decided to research Man ray as he takes unusual photographs on collages and takes pictures related to Surrealism and portraits. Ray contributed impressively to avant-garde, fashion and portrait photography.
Edges project
This lesson we had to come up with ideas we were going to use for our project over the next 3 weeks. I decided to take photos and turn them into collages then put them onto a poster.
WWW:
I am pleased that I was able to get a range of photos all different
I also got some diptychs and triptychs
I got a variety of different light sources for all the photos
EBI:
I need to be more patient and use my time more wisely instead of rushing them
I need to take more wideranged photos so they aren't tall the same
I need to take more photos so I can have more options
WWW:
I took a range of photographs with different perspectives
They all range of different colours and textures
Some are cropped differently
EBI:
The lighting in some of the photos aren't as good as they could be
I realised after I took the photos that some aren't focused properly
I need to try to use the rule of thirds more
Edges essay
Differences: The image on the right has a range of colours such as red, brown, blue, green and a creamy colour. The main focus of the image on the right are the flowers and a blue cup on a random red and brown ball. The image on the left is black and white and the main focus is the writing on the wall. The image on the right has a numerous objections with edges.
Similarities: The image on the right has objects stacked on top of each other and on the left there are 2 images stacked on top of each other. The image from Robert Frank - Sick of Goodbyes, Mabou, 1978 has messy paint on a mirror.
Final Piece
Evalulation
Overall I am pleased with the photo's i chose to put together and the way they are laid out. I like that i chose some colours to make the photographs to stand out. I like that each image is different and they aren't all the same. I like that some of the images have more space than others. I would like to change the way that chose to present the photos i chose. I would rather put them into a collage with a black background and multiple other colours and maybe cut some up to represent different textures and shapes. I would like to add different focuses so some parts of the images could be blurry and some really sharp.
Final Project
WWW:The photos I chose were ones that I really liked. I also like how the background makes the photos pop with colour. The pictures are all different in their own way however some of them relate to each other. Some pictures are bright and colourful and others are dark and have a more mysterious vibe to them. Some of the photos are simple whereas some others are more complex and have more meaning and more things in them. I like how some of the photos were captured. EBI: I didn't want to present my photos in this way however I ran out of time so this was the first thing I thought of. The main thing that I would like to improve would be how I presented the photographs as that isn't how I would like them to be. Some of the photos aren't captured in the best way.
After I took the photos of my final project I decided to take some pictures of shadows as it was sunny outside. I mainly took shadows of myself but I also took a picture of a shadow formed from a few trees. I didn't take many as we decided to leave after and I didn't have much time left after taking photos of my project.
